This page was actually added to the story because uh, I forgot to draw Crogan on Thomas’ shoulder in the last strip. Whoops.

Anyway, enough about that, we’re here to talk about SALE now on

Actually, before we get to that I should probably mention that I’m doing a little cartooning class for Perc Tucker Gallery. It’s on April 6th and 8th, part of their Easter Art Escape program. I have no idea if the thing is booked out yet, or what, but if you’re interested, or if you’re just interested in maybe later doing an adult class, just phone them and talk to them about it. The more interest they get, the more I can do with them in the future!

One of the greatest tourist attractions in Townsville is the SALE now on sign at Toyworld. The SALE now on sign is an enigmatic part of Townsville’s very fabric. It’s a great big, ugly, dirty sign declaring that yes there is a sale at Toyworld.

There’s not.
There never is.

That’s the trick. This sign appeared one year, I think for a sale, and they just never took it down. They take it down every now and then to clean it… or sometimes when there are sales. But for the most part this sign stays up all year getting filthier and filthier. It is AWESOME.

I took these photos a while ago now, then suddenly Toyworld took the sign down. I figured they were going to clean the sign. I mean, why not? But then they didn’t put the sign back up! had they gotten rid of it? It wasn’t about to ask. I don’t want to do anything to cause them to actually get rid of the sign. I waited, I waited a full two months… and the sign FINALLY went back up just recently!

I was so relieved. This bull-crap sign has become a part of my life. It’s how I know where Toyworld is! Plus, think of all the snarky remarks about there not being sales I would miss out on making to Hobart?

SALE now on.
